All people who have been genuinely born again are members of the universal Church. However, Scripture most frequently speaks of Christians as members of a local church. Scripture is full of exhortations and commands to be practically joined together with other believers (Heb. 10:24-25, 1 Cor. 12:14-16, Eph. 4:15-16).
