Web address: www.covfel.org/yc has full camp details as well as links to things like registration costs and packing lists
Registration
  • Early registration opens on March 21 and continuers through April 19. This is a $30 per camper savings.
  • Registration will entirely close on May 3
  • Given the number of churches joining us this year we anticipate camp filling up and needing to have a waiting list. Encourage your folks to register as soon as they can to reserve a spot
  • Because of the high likelihood of camp filling up we are asking that the first folks who register be members of your church or pursuing membership at your church. Friends, cousins, folks from school, etc students often love to invite we would love to have attend as well, but want to make sure those in the participating churches get in first. As such those “extra” folks will need to go on a waiting list for camp that will be used first-come-first serve once registration closes on May 4. Families can email me directly to get a friend on the waiting list.
  • At the time of registration each family will need to pay a minimum of $100 per student but that is all. They can pay the full amount if they desire, but don’t have to. We realize camp is a lot of cash outlaid at once and hope that allowing folks to spread the payments out helps budgets.
  • Attached is a full list of registration costs. This is also available online.
  • In case families would ask, here is our cancellation policy (also stated online): Cancellations submitted on or before July 10 can receive a full refund. After July 10 the church office will work with you to provide as much of a refund as possible, based on when you cancel and what funds have been spent for your camper(s) for camp.
Host location and covid awareness
  • We are holding camp at Black Rock retreat center who is doing an excellent job being aware of COVID restrictions and wise practices in things like mealtimes and sanitation. Our church has held several retreats there this year and have no hesitations about having camp there this summer.
  • We do want to be clear and up front with folks though about details of camp related to possible COVID concerns so that families know clearly what we are and are not doing and came make a decision wise for their family:
    • Lodging: campers will lodge in a cabin with other same-gendered members of their team and possibly one other team as well as their team leader(s). There will be a maximum of 12 people in each cabin
    • Meals will be held inside the Black Rock dinning hall. We will be the only group in that dining hall and students will sit by team to eat their meals
    • Main sessions will be held inside the Black Rock chapel
    • Activities: YouthCamp always has wide range of activities, which will include contact sports. Contact sports are always a part of camp, just noting that we will be keeping that in camp this year. We will aim for ones that are “less contact” but we will not have no contact.
    • We have not made a decision related to masks, we feel that is better to wait to decide on until we are closer to camp. It is our desire to not have masks as a required part of camp but don’t want to lock into a decision on that at this point. We will however most definitely have a covid plan in place and processes to regularly monitor the health of those attending. It seems wise to wait until closer to August to make a decision on that, but once we do we will make sure to get clear information to everyone registered.
Team Leaders
  • Anyone desiring to apply to be a team leader can do so now online here: https://covenantfellowshipchurch.churchcenter.com/registrations/events/719016
  • Application deadline is May 3.
  • We often have more folks apply then we can accept so we just ask that you set appropriate expectations that applying does not automatically mean they are accepted or coming.
  • Once we receive applications we will interact with you over anyone from your church who has applied since we won’t know them or the best way to possibly deploy them at camp.
  • Applicants should be 18 or older and having completed at least freshman year at college (or be at least one year out of high school). They also should be members of your church or pushing membership.
