Mario & Jen Vucenovic
In 2013 Mario and Jen took an exploratory trip to Croatia for seven weeks to find out what were the needs of the evangelical church. They found that there were very few evangelical churches in Dalmatia, Croatia. There is on average one church in a city with a population of 45,000 people. Towns in Dalmatia, Croatia with populations less than 40,000 have no Gospel witness at all. As a native Croatian, Mario understands the language, culture, and values of the people, and has been praying and asking the Lord if He could use a saved Croatian living the “American dream” to reach people for Christ in his country.
The Vucenovics knew based on everything they saw while in Croatia that the needs of the Croatian evangelical church are: pastors, gospel-preaching church plants, and discipleship of believers.
After experiencing Croatia’s spiritual poverty first-hand, God began to show the Vucenovics that He had been leading them, equipping them, and preparing them all these years and by His grace, to step out in faith and pursue pastoral ministry and church planting. They knew God wanted them to be a Gospel witness, to seek out the lost, to care for His sheep, to preach and teach God’s Word. CB Eder was instrumental in bringing the Vucenovics clarity by helping them see and realize on their own that, even if they did share the Gospel on the streets, there would likely be no local church for believers to attend and grow in the knowledge of the Lord. God used CB Eder to help them see that the need, in addition to the saving Gospel, is discipleship.
The Vucenovics desire to plant a church in Split, Croatia, and establish a local outreach as the means to love, serve and reach people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This Sovereign Grace Mission Video chronicles their story.
