We want you to be aware that we as your pastors are tracking closely with the latest coronavirus developments. We don't want to react in fear, but want to be wise in our decision making. Please pray for us for wisdom from above with all of these and upcoming decisions. To our knowledge, we do not know of any coronavirus cases within our church family, but we wanted you to be aware of the following precautions we are taking to keep everyone safe.
The Governor Mifflin Middle School, along with all K-12 schools in Pennsylvania, have been closed effective immediately per Governor Wolf. Related to that, the Governor Mifflin middle school is also going to be closed to us as a local church for rental at least until the end of March.
John spoke with the Governor Mifflin School District today, and initially they were going to allow us to meet this Sunday if we desired to. However, after much prayer we are canceling the service at Governor Mifflin Middle School for this coming Sunday in a desire to care best for the physical health of all of you. We also will not be able to meet in the Governor Mifflin Middle School until at least the beginning of April.
Instead, we are planning on conducting this Sunday's service through Facebook live at 10AM through the Christ Community Church Facebook page. This service will be an abbreviated service with only the announcements and sermon. You can access that here:
If you "like" the page as well, we were informed that you will get notifications when the live-feed begins. You can access the public facebook page without having a Facebook profile. If you can't access or watch the live-feed, we will have the recording of the service available on our church's webpage next week.
John and I will also be in prayer and discussion about what is best for our Sunday church services for the upcoming weeks.
We are also going to be be canceling care groups and other church events scheduled for this next week in consideration of your health (including the good news clubs), and we will pray through best options going forward into the future. Any private meetings with the pastors will remain on the schedule. We will give you more updates as we get them.
Some of you have asked about giving options during this time, so we want to offer the following:
1) send a check by mail to church office address at: 566 Mohns Hill Rd. Sinking Spring, PA 19608
2) set up an automatic payment with your bank to Christ Community Church (all that is needed is giving our church office address to your bank, combined with your offering designation ie. tithe, building fund, croatia mission fund etc.).
3) There is also an online giving option here: https://www.cccberks.org/
online-giving. (keep in mind that our church is charged a 3% gift fee per gift for this option).
If you have any questions about these options, please contact Brian Smith: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Finally, a word of pastoral care to you all. You are much loved, and you are being prayed for. A few scriptures come to mind for this time.
Psalm 46 says, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling. Selah There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the Most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns. The nations rage, the kingdoms totter; he utters his voice, the earth melts. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah Come, behold the works of the LORD, how he has brought desolations on the earth. He makes wars cease to the end of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the chariots with fire. “Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah
In John 16:33 Jesus says, "I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
Trust in Jesus with all of your heart, and remember that for all of those who have repented of their sins and trusted in Christ's sacrifice on the cross and resurrection from the dead, you do not need to fear.
With much love in Christ,
C.B. and John
